What You’ll Be Doing

This is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to begin their career helping families and children obtain the assistance and services they need to live healthy lives in our community! We are currently seeking a Customer Service Representative to become part of our Economic Services Team in Human Services.

The Customer Service Representative provides exceptional customer service for the citizens and employees of Wake County. The Customer Service Representative works mainly with the Family and Children Medicaid (FCMA) and the Food and Nutrition Services (FNS) teams.

The primary responsibilities of the Customer Service Representative include:

As a receptionist, answering general questions via phone, email or in person
Greeting clients who come into our Swinburne facility
Assisting clients in completing applications if necessary
Monitoring kiosk as well as scanning documents into OnBase
Recognizing potentially irate clients and notifying appropriate staff
Searching for clients in NCFAST and OnBase before checking them in to meet with the Caseworker on duty for FCMA or FNS

NOTE: Wake County Human Services employees are required to be in their current role for a minimum of one (1) year to be eligible to apply for another Human Services position. Upon acceptance of employment you acknowledge that (i) you will rescind your application for any other positions within Wake County Human Services, (ii) after accepting your position with Wake County Human Services you must remain in your role for one (1) year before you are eligible to apply for another position within Wake County Human Services, (III) if you work in the Health Clinics and Public Health Division, influenza immunization is a condition of initial and continued employment, subject to compliance with federal law, (iv) actively supports and participates in department emergency preparedness and response activities, which may include temporary changes in responsibilities and working hours.

In the event of an emergency, as determined by the County Manager or designee, participation in preparedness and response operations should be expected. Employee may be required to fill a temporary assignment in a role different from standard duties, work hours and/or work location in preparation for, during and after the emergency. Employee may also be required to participate in relevant exercises and regular preparedness training.

The Basics (Required Education and Experience)
High school diploma or GED
One year of experience in clerical work
Equivalent education or experience is accepted
Beyond the Basics (Preferred Education and Experience)

Fluency in Spanish
NCFAST experience
OnBase experience
Excellent customer service skills
Additional administrative or accounting training
Two years or more administrative experience
Human Services experience
