Medway School of Pharmacy is looking for an exceptional and inspirational Lecturer (Education, Scholarship and Professional Practice) in Clinical and Professional Practice to primarily support clinical skills teaching and assessment in our undergraduate MPharm programme but also to contribute to other undergraduate and postgraduate teaching within the school.   You will be joining a dynamic group composed of pharmacists, nurses and physiotherapists, with a focus on providing high quality and professionally relevant teaching on the undergraduate MPharm and postgraduate programmes.

The Medway School of Pharmacy is a collaboration between the Universities of Greenwich and Kent, based on the joint Medway campus of both Universities, which is located next to The Chatham Historic Dockyard. The Medway School of Pharmacy has a vibrant research programme over a wide range of research areas arranged in three cognate areas (Biological Sciences; Chemistry and Drug Delivery; Clinical and Professional Practice) and a large postgraduate research student and research associate body.

Our flagship undergraduate programme is the 4-year Master of Pharmacy (MPharm) degree course.  In addition, we are renowned for our taught postgraduate pharmacy programmes, especially the Independent Prescribing programmes, accredited by a range of healthcare regulators.

The Role

As a Lecturer in Clinical and Professional Practice you will contribute extensively to the design and delivery of the MPharm programme in the areas of clinical skills as it applies to future pharmacy and prescribing practice, providing integration with the fundamental science knowledge base of pharmacy.   You will also contribute to the delivery of other relevant undergraduate and taught postgraduate programmes and modules within the Medway School of Pharmacy.

You will be a UK-registered health care professional with experience of teaching/training and assessment of clinical skills. Having an independent prescribing qualification would be an advantage but not essential. We would consider a flexible approach to anyone who wished to continue their clinical practice alongside this role.

You can expect to get involved in:

  • designing, delivering and leading on high quality teaching in clinical skills on the undergraduate and postgraduate taught programmes
  • collaborating with colleagues and taking on appropriate management and administrative responsibilities in the day-to-day running of the school
  • designing and delivering excellent and up to date clinical skills teaching and assessment on the MPharm and other undergraduate programmes
  • advising colleagues on the use of suitable simulation equipment to support clinical skills teaching

What we are looking for in the right candidate:

  • a first degree (or equivalent experience) in a relevant health care discipline
  • registration with an appropriate professional/regulatory body
  • experience of training of health care professionals in clinical skills
  • experience of delivering clinical skills teaching to trainees or health care professionals
