Compensation Overview

The annual base salary range provided for this position is a nationwide market range and represents a broad range of salaries for this role across the country. The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment. As part of our comprehensive compensation and benefits program, employees are also eligible for performance-based cash incentive awards.

What Is the Opportunity?

Travelers is seeking a Salesforce.com Lead Software Engineer to join our organization as we grow and transform our Technology landscape.

The Salesforce Lead/ Senior Software Engineer will be responsible for all technical aspects involved in delivering salesforce projects—primarily custom code development but also any other related technical items such as communities and integrations with external applications and date

The technical lead is expected to have extensive experience in software development, including, but not limited to, Salesforce technologies such as Visualforce, Lightning component and Apex

As the Technical Lead/ Senior Engineer, this position will be expected to split their time with approximately 60% dedicated to development work and 40% spent coordinating the salesforce development teams

  • Set technical direction and effectively influences across multiple teams to improve the overall quality of engineering practices and skill sets.
  • Align work with business and engineering priorities to realize meaningful impact.
  • Build, maintain, and utilize partnerships ensuring the best use of overall resources.
  • Provide technical leadership, foster a team environment, and provide mentorship and feedback to technical resources.
  • Apply knowledge of current industry trends and techniques to formulate solutions within the context of assigned efforts.
  • Ensure team’s work complies with Travelers standards, processes, and protocols.
  • Provide consistent performance feedback and coaching to staff.
  • Seek opportunities to expand technical knowledge and capabilities.

What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?

  • -8+ years Experience in Salesforce (SFDC) CRM with end to end implementation experience-Salesforce.com integration experience, including between different business systems as well as working with integration tools-At least 3+ years showing a proficiency in programming using Salesforce SFDC, Force.com, Java, JavaScript, and XML and their use in the development of CRM solutions-At least 2+ years with configuration, customization, programming with APEX APIs, APEX Triggers and implementing new instances of Salesforce.com from scratch

    -2+ years of practical deployment knowledge of Salesforce Lightning Framework, VisualForce, Flex, Salesforce configurations, Apex classes, APEX Web services, API, AppExchange deployment.

    -7 years of programming/development experience plus two years prior technical leadership experience preferred.6+ years

    -Experience in designing and developing software components and having a very strong Service Oriented Architecture and integration background

    -Delivery – Advanced delivery skills including the ability to examine and assess the effectiveness of software design strategies and methodologies across an organization, the ability to devise, apply, and share ways to ensure the quality, production readiness, and continued health of complex computer systems, the ability to incorporate awareness and understanding of work happening outside of the team, and the ability to develop widely used technical metrics that enable engineers to better understand and deliver their work.

    -Domain Expertise – Demonstrated track record of domain expertise including the ability to leverage expertise to improve company level capabilities within domain, consult on business priorities and optimize value by identifying business aligned solutions and thoughtfully and practically introduce concepts and technologies from the industry.

    -Problem Solving – Strong problem solver who creates architecture that is particularly robust against single points of failure, both in terms of systems and people and looks ahead 6-12 months to identify areas of need and turns this into action.

    -Communication – Strong communicator who possesses the ability to describe technology concepts in ways the business can understand, document effectively so that systems/architectures can be maintained or built upon, collaborate across disparate groups, helping to identify common goals and gain consensus, adapt language to meet the needs of various levels of technical and non-technical audiences and model and assist others in the practice of mindful communication, active listening, and messaging

    -Leadership – Advanced leadership skills including the ability to leverage internal networks across engineering and engage with other leaders to solve problems and develop strong credibility throughout the company as well as choose the most critical engineering challenges and work to improve the entire engineering organization by teaching others and sharing knowledge while creating opportunities for others to showcase and develop skills.

What is a Must Have?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or its equivalent in work experience.
  • Five years of programming/development experience.
  • One year of experience of technical leadership.

What Is the Opportunity?

Under Moderate Supervision, performs professional accounting work to ensure current, accurate and complete financial information. Position will be responsible for the support and control of our Financial Reporting monthly close processes. Prepares and compiles complex analysis and reports for routine and ad hoc financial activities. Position may manage others. Moderate Supervision: Incumbent performs standard and routine assignments independently to conclusion; unusual problems which may require exceptions to procedures or processes are referred to the manager.

What Will You Do?

  • Control and support the financial close process, by preparing various journal entries, uploading activity to our Loss Reserving System and General Ledger, and balancing the after results.
  • Prepare complex journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Assist with the budget/reforecast process by updating various schedules and uploading to our TM1 database.
  • Manage our TM1 Database by controlling access, add dimensions as needed, control the data to the General Ledger and load various components throughout the close.
  • Co-ordinate with peers to compile exhibits for our Personal Insurance Financial Results book.
  • Prepare and control various monthly Income Statements.
  • Quarterly prepare, control and speak to variances on the Balance Sheet.
  • Prepare various year end requests; Supplemental requests from internal and external auditors, AM Best Questionnaire and S&P Global Survey. May interact with internal auditors on more routine issues on supervised basis.
  • Support ad hoc requests, which may include extracting and analyzing data.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field preferred
  • TM1, FACTS experience is a plus.
  • Typically 2-3 years related work experience.
  • General knowledge of accounting theory and practice.
  • General Knowledge: Possesses sufficient knowledge to perform most work in normal situations.
  • Intermediate time management skills.
  • Basic project management skills.
  • Demonstrated intermediate interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated intermediate communication skills
