Responsibilities:

  • Project reporting: Compiling the terminal NPRP reports for the project. This will require the assimilation of data and individual reports from all partners (CEREGE, UoM, TAMU CS, Total E&P) .
  • Petrophysics / X-ray work: The core research task for the candidate is to undertake coupled centrifuge capillary pressure / Amott WI / tests and x-ray micro CT analysis of core plugs (outcrop and subsurface). Initial work will focus on recommissioning the TAMUQ Core Labs centrifuge which has remained unused throughout the pandemic .
  • Other research: The candidate will assist in AI based petrographic analysis workflows developed by current TAMUQ SEED Grant funded graduate student – Issac John .
  • Other duties Reporting to stakeholders / conference and paper preparation etc.

Responsibilities:

  • Scheduling/Course Management – Oversees and manages the course inventory, room assignments, registration, semester setup processes and grade processing in the student information management system (Compass). Plans and coordinates production of the class schedule and catalog, including creating timelines for data entry and tasks, and establishing work procedures. Edits materials and writes original copy as needed. Consults and coordinates with deans, department/division chairs, and division office managers on matters related to preparation of the class schedule, catalog, and grading; maintains supporting documents and authorizations. Investigates complaints and resolves problems. Assists in the preparation of reports for administration. Monitors adherence to timelines for course development and modification. Prepares written communication to faculty to advise them of established curriculum processes and submittal deadlines for inclusion of courses in schedules and catalog. Enters new and modified course information in the curriculum maintenance database to assure timely and accurate information is available for schedule/catalog production and faculty/staff reference. Advises faculty and staff with regard to essential elements such as proper numbering of courses, contact hours and units, as new and modified curriculum is being prepared. Supports the Curriculum Advisory Committee. Collaborates with individuals on the main campus regarding recruitment, processing, records, and computer applications. Is responsible for cross-training staff in scheduling policies and procedures.
  • Departmental Management – Serves on management team with Director. Represents the department, division, or University on various committees. Participates in developing departmental strategic plans based on department goals. Provides leadership for department along with and in absence of the Director. Handles special projects as assigned by the Director. Provides input for annual budgets. Provides indirect supervision and guidance to a team or departmental sub-unit(s).
  • Compliance – Monitors compliance with all unit, department, University, and government standards, policies, and procedures. Oversees areas related to records management for adherence to deadlines, procedures, accuracy, and consistency in data entry. Is responsible for scheduling/course maintenance policies and processes. Makes recommendation for efficiency and effectiveness and initiates the change process, as needed. Performs other duties as assigned.

Collaborates with Academic Advisors to ensure appropriate course offerings for study abroad participants. Develops and oversees project timelines to ensure timely coordination with internal and external stakeholders. Coordinates the Aggies Abroad Research Program exchange program with TAMU, in conjunction with the TAMUQ Support Office. Conducts cultural orientations for students, including pre-departure and arrival cultural orientation workshops. Serves as the primary point of contact for local emergencies involving students traveling abroad and TAMU students in Qatar. Serves as a liaison with overseas offices and staff. Supervises a Graduate Intern.
  • Facilitate Aggie Service-Learning Experience (ASLE) programs – Plans, coordinates, and executes all Aggie Service Learning Experience programs coordinated by the Department, including, but not limited to, budget, assessment, and logistics. Recruits and trains student leaders who serve as co-coordinators for the program. Markets and promotes ASLE program to students, faculty, and staff. Interview and select student, faculty and staff participants. Works with hosting site and student leaders to facilitate execution of program prior and upon arrival. Develops and prepares participants of the program via meetings, team building, and other mechanisms. Works with selected student leaders to create and facilitate pre- and post-program meetings. Works with other Qatar Foundation campuses, when possible, to collaborate on service learning programs offered to students.
  • Coordinate Athletic/Recreational Programming – Serves as a point of contact for all TAMUQ athletics and recreational activities. Serves on Education City sports committee. Liaises with TAMUQ hired coaches. Coordinates the attendance of DSA staff members at TAMUQ athletics events. Coordinates sports team’s tryouts. Coordinates with Qatar Foundation for field reservations, practice times, league/game scheduling, etc.
  • Communication, Marketing and Assessment – Coordinates communication, marketing, and recruitment efforts for study abroad, Aggies Abroad Research Program, athletics/recreation, and housing. Responds to student and faculty inquiries regarding study abroad, other international opportunities, athletics, and housing. Assesses student learning in international experiences. Assesses student participation and experiences in Qatar Foundation housing and residence life and athletic/recreational activities.
  • Support Student Affairs Goals – Recommends changes to Department rules or processes. Assists with department wide programs (i.e. Aggie Life 101: New Student Orientation, Ring Day, Aggie Marketplace Days, etc.). Develops and/or maintains written processes for existing functions in the department. Assists students, faculty, staff, parents or guests by responding to inquiries. Serves on various University and Education City wide committees.
  • Student Support and Advocacy – Supports students in a variety of ways, including one-on-one meetings. Guides students to available services available to them at TAMUQ, Education City, etc. Advocates for student concerns with administration. Performs other duties as assigned.

Fosters retention of identified groups of student through activities such as mentoring, monitoring of student grades, and other support programs. Implements projects to achieve specific activities or outcomes. Manages student probation program, which includes meeting with all students on probation each semester to determine success plan, coordinating with campus resources to deliver support for probationary students. Reviews probation status and terms throughout semester to determine if students are progressing. Develops and leads multiple Aggie Life first year student success sessions each semester, including sessions for Undergraduate Degree Planner and First Year success. Serves as representative on the Aggie Life First Year program steering committee. Monitors student course standings (prerequisites, three‐peats, cross‐registration, etc.) to ensure compliance with student and university rules. Serves as staff advisor to student groups in coordination with Department of Student Affairs.
  • Course Scheduling – Provides support for the course scheduling process. Requires working closely with the Office of Records to assess the needs of the students, faculty and the University. Develops and revises semester schedules, including estimating course and section projections.
  • New Student Conferences Program Organization – Creates student materials. Presents to and registers students during the conferences of incoming students. Meets with prospective students.
  • ASO Student Communications Manager & Supervision – Responsible for all communications regarding academic advising, probation, student success sessions, deadlines, policies, etc. Develops and maintains ASO social media accounts and communication plans. May give detailed instruction, training, periodic review, and supervision to Academic Advisor and other support personnel. Performs other related duties as assigned.
