POSITION SUMMARY: Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of guest rooms including, reporting room status discrepancies and maintenance problems to supervisor.


    • Know your work schedule and follow it with a high degree of reliability.
    • Interact with guests, clients, vendors, and co-workers in a professional and customer service-oriented manner.
    • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming.
    • Maintain a clean, neat and orderly work area.
    • Perform your job according to standard operating procedures.
    • Read, understand and follow all policies, procedures and practices as stated in the Employee Handbook.
    • Implement hotel safety and emergency policies and procedures (i.e. evacuation, first aid, etc.) to include removing all safety hazards, following OSHA Hazcom program and safe lifting techniques.
    • Utilize protective equipment, when applicable.
    • Promptly report accidents, injuries, property damage or loss to supervisor.
    • Promptly report substandard (unsafe) conditions to supervisor.
    • Keep accurate communication flowing freely among all hotel departments.
    • Inform management promptly of any work-related problems or guest complaints.
    • Maintain professional, amicable relationships with all resort departments, managers, and staff, as well as vendors, and community and professional contacts.
    • Promote excellent guest service throughout the resort by demonstrating friendly, courteous and helpful attitudes toward all guests.
    • Attend all scheduled training classes and meetings.
    • Train and supervise other employees as directed by management.
    • Continue to learn and grow in your position.
    • Perform any reasonable request as assigned or directed by management.
    • Provide for a safe work environment by following all safety and security procedures and rules.

  • Comply with all applicable federal, state and local laws and ordinances as they apply to the hotel, guests and employees.


  • Clean amount of guest rooms/suites as assigned up to the standards described in the hotel S.O.P.’s.
  • Clean guest bathrooms, bedrooms and sitting areas to a high level of cleanliness according to hotel standards.
  • Make beds with clean linen and place clean linen in bathrooms daily.
  • Dust rooms (including all end tables, desks, coffee tables, dressers, etc.) on a daily basis.
  • Vacuum all guest rooms daily.
  • Replace room amenities, literature and other items as prescribed by hotel S.O.P.’s.
  • Clean doors, mirrors and other surfaces in the room.
  • Empty wastebaskets and ashtrays. Replace wastebasket liner and clean ashtrays.
  • Remove food trays, dishes, glasses, etc. from rooms.
  • Check closets for the proper number of hangers and laundry bags and replace as needed.
  • Handle all guest requests as soon as possible.
  • Maintain supplies, linen and materials as provided.
  • Responsible for any assigned keys.
  • Wear proper attire: clean uniform, proper shoes and stockings, and name tag at all times.
  • Return lost items to housekeeping at the end of the day.
  • Report all “Do Not Disturb” and “Refused Services” to supervisor.
  • Communicate all cleaned rooms to supervisor.
  • Return to unfinished rooms as requested to complete tasks or replace missing items.
  • Maintain knowledge of cleaning supplies issued daily to ensure they are used according to instructions to avoid injury/ accidents or damage to hotel property.
  • Check with supervisor upon completion of room assignments before leaving for the day.
  • Assist with preventive cleaning program as assigned.
  • Attend all meetings related to housekeeping.
EXPERIENCE: Must have one year previous housekeeping experience in commercial setting. Hotel experience preferred


  • Must be able to stand and walk continuously throughout shift with little to no sitting.
  • Must be able to stoop, bend, twist and reach.
  • Must be able to push, pull, carry and lift up to 25 lbs with or without an accommodation.
  • Must be able to reach above head.
  • Use of full range peripheral vision.
  • Must be able to work with medium/heavy chemicals.
  • Communicate verbally.
  • Must have developed English language skills to be able to participate in discussions.
  • Must be able to operate a vacuum cleaner.
