Job Purpose

The National Account Manager delivers business results according to the account strategy as set by the Country Head and is responsible for the sale and promotion of Sony products to allocate existing and new clients, encouraging resale to consumers, and optimizing relationship management within the agreed frameworks of the sales strategy and the distribution policy. The National Account Manager must either be focused on one single customer and product type or be a generalist The main task of the job is to grow and develop identified accounts but also to develop new key accounts and channels in the retail and etail environment. The National Account Manager defines the goals to be achieved and develops medium-term plans with assigned customers with the aim of partnership to achieve the set business goals. The National Account Manager stipulates and defines pricing policies, contract terms and promotional initiatives.

Key Responsibilities & Scope for Decision Making

  • Selling to customers achieving set sales and profit targets taking standards/values into consideration

  • Effectively managing accounts in a multi-channel retail environment and driving growth in both traditional channels and e-commerce

  • Maximising conversion at shop front to drive sell out to the end user (both stores and online stores)

  • Stipulating and defining price policies and contract terms

  • Defining an effective distribution strategy with the assigned Key Accounts

  • Creating and augmenting in-house share among customers

  • Achieving set ranging and stock level targets

  • Managing the CI agreements with the customers and optimize / track the qualitative and quantitative rebates

  • Ensuring that the customers aligns to the agreed European Partner Program

  • Supporting high-level negotiations with assigned Key Accounts, moving within the parameters defined within sales management

  • Maintaining and extending customer portfolio

  • Creating sales and sell out planning and forecast/account plan

  • Doing sales planning and forecast update and reporting

  • Compiling targets and annual agreements

  • Maintaining business plans for all assigned accounts and review on a monthly basis and prior to any dealer visit

  • Creating a yearly/quarterly/weekly contact plan to maximise customer facing time based on the objectives set

  • Maintaining and developing strong relationships with assigned Key Accounts

  • Ensuring that Promotional/Communication plan is in place for each promo period, and reviewed regularly in line with seasonal and launch planning, to ensure all customer’s retail touch points are maximized

  • Identifying and resolving any issues relating to the customers

  • Ensuring that all disputes are solved within set target timing in collaboration with sales support

  • Managing sales accruals, rebates & stock compensation payments

  • Maintaining contact with Marketing, Sales Support, Consumer Marketing Communication, Service and Sales within Sony UK

  • Collaborating on a daily basis with appointed Sales Support officer (account team)

  • Closely cooperating with assigned Brand Activator and assuring full cooperation from  customer side is in place

  • Organizing and being present at Sony events or customer events

  • Organizing training sessions at customer’s place of business or at other locations

  • Organizing SPIFFs, incentives and other sales-promoting activities at the customer

  • All work needs to be performed as set out in the Sony Way of Selling (SWOS)

Qualifications & Experience

  • Significant commercial experience (in similar role)

  • Proven experience in multi-channel retailing and advanced knowledge and experience of e-commerce marketing/sales strategies

  • Detailed and deep knowledge of industry, competitors, retail and consumers.

  • Strong skills and experience in complex negotiations with major key accounts

  • MS Office/ XLS high level of proficiency

  • Higher education (university or similar level)

  • Excellent in English written, spoken and the ability to present/negotiate

  • Knowledge of Account and Category Management concepts

  • Excellent knowledge of Sony products

  • Knowledge of administrative/management processes

  • Good holistic thinking and conceptual selling skills

  • Excellent analytical, problem solving, and interpersonal skills

  • Strong drive to win, creative mindset

  • Team-player, working across borders in an international business environment

  • Strong ability to work and deliver in a rapidly changing environment
