Business Analyst Intern

You will join one of our offices around the world for ~10 weeks, usually in the summer, to work in teams and directly with our clients. In addition to these locations, this job opportunity is also available in Ho Chi Minh City.
In this role, you will help our clients in the private, public, and social sectors solve some their most pressing problems. You will also work with a range of experts in the firm, from data scientists to researchers to software and app designers.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

You’ll work in teams of typically 3 – 5 consultants, to identify, and oftentimes implement, potential solutions for a specific client problem or challenge. Together, you will help clients make lasting improvements to their performance and realize their most important goals.

Over the course of each project, you will gather and analyze information, formulate and test hypotheses, and develop and communicate recommendations. You’ll also present results to client management and implement recommendations in collaboration with client team members. Some examples of the specific work may include interviewing clients, leading client teams, building financial models, and working with McKinsey subject experts to develop perspectives and insights for the client. Depending on your area of focus or client needs, you will be asked to travel to your client site.

Our business analyst intern program gives a group of undergraduate students and eligible graduate students first-hand experience with consulting at McKinsey. At the end of your internship, you may receive an offer to join us as a full-time business analyst after the completion of your degree.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • In your junior year of an undergraduate degree; with an expected graduation dates between December 2023 – August 2024
  • Or in your senior year and planning to enter a 1-year master’s program
  • Or currently completing your first year in a non-business, 2-year master’s program and have less than 2 years of work experience
  • Or are in your first year of a two year commitment with Teach for America and have 3 years or fewer of work experience to date

Communications Specialist

You will be a strategic and creative leader primarily responsible for developing and executing effective external communications strategies to enhance McKinsey’s reputation in the region.
In this role, you will help to disseminate the Firm’s knowledge through four primary dissemination channels: media, social media, client communication, events (both external and McKinsey-hosted). You will distil complex reports from diverse practices/functions into content for a variety of audiences with a range of expertise (from experts to general public). You will also advise practice leaders, location leaders, and other partners/colleagues on jointly owned activities that fall into the four aforementioned channels.
You will manage several distinct production pipelines and communicate progress to a range of stakeholders clearly, concisely, and often spontaneously. You will create and publish a monthly newsletter of regional communications achievements (e.g., publications, media coverage, events) and collect analytics on monthly social media and media coverage.
You will also be responsible to manage relationships with external vendors and provide support for the communications function (e.g., partner publications, film crews, communications agencies, translation agencies).
You will develop and produce creative campaigns on a wide range of creative assets, work side-by-side with internal and external teams. In addition, you will manage and support the execution of virtual and in- person events and create materials that can be shared with C-level executives. Over time, you will innovate and reshape the role to suit your strengths, ambitions, and the ever-changing needs of the Firm.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Excellent academic qualifications (ideally, a B.A./B.S. or M.A./M.S. in communications, journalism, or a related field).
  • 6+ years of experience in public relations or communications, including proven track record in both planning and executing proactive communications initiatives (e.g., events, campaigns, report launches) and hands-on experience with members of the media/communications ecosystem (e.g., reporters, producers, event organizers).
  • Proven project-management skills, including on multiple work streams; excellent sense of ownership and a high level of drive and initiative.
  • Demonstrated experience serving as an advisor to senior colleagues, showing both judgment and presence along with the confidence to follow up with senior leaders on the resolution of roadblocks.
  • Superlative oral and written communications skills, with a demonstrated record of producing communications materials (e.g., releases, statements, messaging, Q&As); you will represent both yourself and the firm primarily through your writing in both formal and informal contexts.

EEMA Travel Operations Manager

You will be based in one of our offices in Addis Ababa, Almaty, Amsterdam, Cairo, Casablanca, Doha, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, Istanbul, Johannesburg, Lagos, Lisbon, London, Luanda, Madrid, Manama, Nairobi, Nur-Sultan, Poznan, Prague or Riyadh and report to the EEMA Regional Travel Manager (RTM) and, be part of Optimize, the procurement and operations function that delivers distinctive, positive, and productive experiences for McKinsey colleagues through various services ranging from travel, events, real estate, sourcing, solutions and purchasing.
You will work closely with local and regional leadership, and other colleagues across Optimize and other departments and our external travel suppliers, as you shape and lead the travel operation process in our EEMA region.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

You will work closely with the Regional Travel Manager (RTM) to support and drive regional travel initiatives and support developing and implementing efficiencies to the travel operations in the region.
You will be the main point of contact on travel operational topics for our colleagues in EMEA, building strong stakeholder relationships to deliver personalized ‘high touch’ support and advice to travelers, leveraging your deep specialized expertise to solve complex travel issues.
You will work with the RTM to ensure our operating model delivers an engaged, participative travel team, that also drives integration and collaboration with other parts of the firm.  You will encourage new thinking on emerging topics, pushing leaders in EEMA to adopt ‘world class’ practices in delivery of the travel service.
You will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure our travel operations run seamlessly. You will monitor TMC for operational performance and collaborate with RTM and global category leads to conduct regular performance reviews with TMC and other key vendors to identify, and then execute, opportunities for ongoing improvement in the travel service.
You will ensure compliance with regional strategy and policies, including reporting on, and addressing gaps in, policy compliance in the region.
You will support the awareness and adoption of new technology to transform the travel experience for our firm colleagues.
You will research finance issues related to the travel service and collaborate with finance and other teams to ensure the correct and optimal accounting and financial treatment of our travel costs.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • University degree and excellent academic record required; advanced degree preferred
  • 3-5 years of experience in corporate travel
  • Excellent organization and strong professional computing skills, including Microsoft Office products (i.e. Excel, PowerPoint, Visio)
  • Strong influencing skill: ability to create buy-in among senior leaders and mobilize teams to act and perform at a high level
  • Ability to analyze/understand complex data sets, identify shortcomings and opportunities and work in a global-based team but also with local based teams to share recommended changes
