Head-Corporate Communication

Job Summary

  • The jobholder is responsible and accountable for strategic planning and execution of all communication and Public Affairs activities in the scope (incl. quality and cost).
  • He/she focuses on managing corporate reputation, ensures appropriate communication support for all businesses and coordinates in-country CSR engagement
  • He/she effectively engages with key stakeholders in Communications, across the areas of public affairs, media relations, public relations, issues and crisis communications, digital communications, employee communications and corporate branding.
  • He/she reports directly to – Board Member.
  • The jobholder also supports group initiatives and guarantees the application of global rules and regulations.

Roles & Responsibilities

Major tasks and responsibilities

Corporate Communications:

Provides leadership and coordination for all communication activities
External communication: Develops and maintains relationships with all relevant target groups (e.g. media, influencers, employees and general public) by using all relevant channels (e.g. intranet, internet, social media) through proactive communications activities.
Ensures consistency of messages and a global one-voice-policy at all levels of the local organization. The jobholder is familiar with the key Corporate communication processes and functions and ensures that these are taken into account.
Develops communication strategies based on the overarching business and communication objectives of the company and the country/Local specific goals.
Drives relevant communication topics and activities in an integrated, holistic approach regarding all relevant target groups and all channels. Applies digital engagement solutions that enable the organization to effectively engage with external and internal stakeholders.

Crisis & strategic communication:

Manages risk and reputation, provides strategic counsel on business decisions affecting the company’s freedom to operate.
Steers, supports and manages executive communications in order to position senior management internally and externally as main representative of the company – and where applicable – to position and support the senior division representatives through training and coaching, media relations, digital communications etc.
Ensures crisis preparedness and steers as well as directs issues and crisis communications, including change communications, in close cooperation with corporate functions and business organization. Ensures communications procedures on issues and crises are known and respected.
Manages functional costs in a responsible and cost-effective manner in line with budget assigned by global function.

Public Affairs & CSR :

Provides both leadership and coordination for all Corporate public affairs, policy, NGO advocacy, relations to political stakeholders and government relations in countries in scope.
Works across Corporate businesses to identify top strategic issues & initiatives which impact Corporate businesses both in terms of risks and opportunities.
Takes care of political issue management and regularly aligns with Corporate Public Affairs to avoid “surprising issues”.
Define and integrates corporate social engagement initiatives and group CSR programs in external stakeholder engagement,
Directs, coordinates, and controls the management of in-country activities in line with group sustainability initiatives and local business priorities.
Builds and maintains appropriate networks and coalitions with relevant external stakeholders, including policy makers, industry associations and NGOs.

Work experience requirement

  • Minimum of 10 years of related professional experience in positions of responsibility in major corporations with an international scope
  • Degree in Communications, journalism or related field highly desirable
  • Professional experience in a governmental affairs and policy development in FMCG, environmental and/or agricultural policy is desirable
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong in relationship building with relevant external and internal stakeholder groups
  • Expertise in translating business goals into impactful Communications and Public affairs strategies and their implementation
  • A comprehensive understanding of traditional/digital media and significant experience determining the appropriate media mix
  • Detailed working knowledge of local politics
  • Solid understanding of FMCG industry and company background, ideally based on international business knowledge
  • Visionary leader with proven team-leading capabilities in driving and developing a communications team
  • High level of agility and ability to stay calm under pressure

Roles & Responsibilities

•    Lead core event management from end to end to deliver to customer expectations
•    Assume brand guideline responsibilities in selected key events to ensure consistency
