ExxonMobil USA Jobs Description 2022

The Project Engineer (PE) provides leadership for assigned projects, and ensures successful completion of the assigned projects as per Project Objectives and Strategies (POS), functional scope and appropriation requirements. PEs coordinate with various stakeholders and are expected to leverage the functional expertise of the organization (e.g. cost, schedule & controls engineers, SSHE engineers, etc.) to ensure that the project meets all safety, quality, cost and schedule objectives.

The PE role is meant to be a multifaceted role and the PE may from time to time take on “non-technical” roles as required to support the successful completion of the Project. The PE could be managing a portfolio of small projects simultaneously through different stages, or could be reporting to a PM or Senior PM on a single large project.

This position will be  will be based in Beaumont, TX.

Primary Job Functions

  • Lead implementation (or play a key role in verifying and validating implementation) of safety processes and procedures that ensure Project Safety Plan (if applicable) and existing site SSH&E expectations are met during project execution
  • Engage in execution plans, SSHE Plan (if applicable) and Contracting / Procurement Strategies development and implementation
  • Monitor and appraise Contractor(s)’ organization, planning, execution and controls, and drives improvement plans to close gaps in performance
  • Communicates with, coordinates, and directs project, functional, business, manufacturing/asset and other discipline support to ensure timely completion of reviews, resolution of technical queries and required actions
  • Identifies project issues and executes/stewards appropriate actions to resolution
  • Ensures compliance with ExxonMobil standards and processes throughout project lifecycle
  • Supports procurement activities, including in some cases materials requisitioning and expediting
  • Responsible for contractor administration activities e.g. review of contracts and to support the preparation, negotiation of contracts (PE may not be leading)
  • Responsible for project close-out and turnover to site
  • Accountable for performance (Key Performance Indicators) of project and alignment with local and global processes (such as ExxonMobil Capital Project System)

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Project/Construction Management or equivalent degree/work experience
  • Willing to relocate domestically or internationally; flexible / adaptable to various working / living conditions
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities and stakeholders
  • Proficiency in use of computers and possesses excellent administrative and organizational competencies
  • Proven ability to manage short deadlines, emergency situations, lack of infrastructure, and cultural differences for travel and work in venture operations

Preferred Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

  • Strong analytical and communication skills
  • Demonstrated work experience in independently managing projects
  • Experience in petrochemicals or related industry

Job Role Summary

This role will be a technical resource for the Beaumont Refinery and responsible for supporting safe, reliable, and profitable operations. This position will be located in Beaumont, TX. The business coordinator uses engineering and economic fundamentals to support the long term vision of the complex through project economic support, leadership of initiatives, and day to day mentoring of refinery coordinators (schedulers). The business coordinator maintains a working relationship with 3Ps and the ExxonMobil Supply Organization to ensure all future projects/initiatives fits within the capability of the sites logistics. The ideal candidate for their role will use their experience to also support in a more senior capacity after onboarding and in future roles. These additional responsibilities may include leading initiatives to debottleneck refinery logistics, stepping into a leadership role over inexperienced process engineers, and building the strategic vision for the site.

Job Role Responsibilities

  • Comply with Safety / Health / Environmental policy
  • Build detailed runouts / volume balances to assess future refinery logistics
  • Build forward looking runplans and projections to aid in scheduling refinery feedstocks / products
  • Improve  logistics of marine and pipeline movements into and out of the refinery
  • Understand unit and general plant economic drivers to effectively implement daily optimization
  • Support advancement of the long term strategy of supported units
  • Plan logistics for unit turnarounds and outages
  • Develop economic cases for long term unit improvements / projects
  • Maintain working relationships with third party terminals / service providers
  • Mentor less experienced Engineers / Coordinators
  • Complete detailed economic assessments for future project investment cases

Job Requirements

  • B.S. in Chemical Engineering or other relevant Engineering backgrounds
  • Minimum 5 years relevant work experience
  • Experience in a Manufacturing / Operating Plant environment, and/or supporting Refining or Petrochemical facilities

Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Greater than 5 years work experience in a Refining Manufacturing environment
  • Experience in refining operations
  • Experience with feedstock or product scheduling
  • Experience with economic modeling or advanced scheduling software
  • Demonstrated capital project development experience or process engineering experience
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel
  • Able to demonstrate leadership, initiative, teamwork, interpersonal effectiveness and self confidenc
