Key Accountabilities

  • Repair all the mechanical parts of Rudder & Propeller, including propeller blades.
  • Conduct necessary balancing to Rudder & Propeller.
  • Conduct polishing to propellers.
  • Carryout bedding to rudder & propeller and gouging.
  • Operate Cherry Pickers as required in order to support all mechanical operations.
  • Service Blohm and Voss seal
  • Maintain good working relationship with workers, appointed foreman, supervisors and management.
  • Perform duties of a Foreman as required / appointed for individual projects.
  • Attend any training for any activity required by the department.
  • Ensure materials are of required standard prior to use, reporting damages when required.
  • Work within allocated timescale to meet department targets.
  • Maintain good housekeeping in all work areas.
  • Follow the day-to-day operations related to own job to ensure continuity of work.

Based at our Head Office in Dubai and reporting to the Corporate Procurement Manager – POML, the Assistant Procurement Manager   will be responsible to  lead, coordinate, manage, and administer all procurement activities for POML Offshore (locations TBC) and Shared Service Business Units, and define and lead the continuous improvement policy, applying the best practices at all levels and aiming for Procurement Excellence.

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Ensure implementation of POML Group Procurement Procedures and Policies within the Business Units (BUs).
  2. Handle all major Capex purchases including new vessel purchase, special projects purchase etc for the Business Units (BUs) responsible and create POs following the procurement process.
  3. Negotiate and Establish frame agreements and contracts with key suppliers to achieve cost savings and generate process improvement.
  4. Regularly review all open Requisitions, Purchase orders and ensure closing of same as per the KPI requirements.
  5. Identify and implement cost savings and process improvements initiatives which meet or exceed company objectives and prepare strategy for implementation for review with Line manager.

Job Requirements:

  1. Diploma/ Bachelor’s degree in engineering, supply chain management, logistics, or business administration.
  2. Certification in Purchasing from a recognized university is preferable.
  3. A minimum of 10 years of service with an organization preferably in shipping industry/vessel operation, out of which at-least 3 years at a managerial level managing a team/procurement staff.
  4. Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  5. Experience using supply chain management ERP software and tools, Oracle Fusion and ABS NSE would be an advantage.
