The Business System Analyst is responsible for the on-going analysis of the organization’s operational application suites in one of the following areas;

  • Fleet Management Information Systems (FMIS)
  • Fleet Diagnostic Applications
  • Scheduling and Timekeeping Applications
  • Control Applications (Computer Aided Dispatch / AVLC)
  • Fare Systems Applications

Within the assigned area of responsibility, the System Analyst is responsible for;

  • Providing support, training, guidance and clarification to the Business Unit employees and other departmental staff on the use of the application suite and the resolution of issues
  • Analyzing business requirements
  • Recommending and implementing new or improved functionality
  • Serving as a functional source of expertise
  • Maintaining the functionality of the application suite
  • Liaising with the vendor to support the application
  • Coordinating and collaborating with internal staff in the on-going configuration of the application suite

Education & Experience

Three (3) year university degree in computer science, business administration or related disciplines.

Minimum of five (5) years experience in business analysis/information systems administration or support or coordination.

*Experience and formal training combined with demonstrated performance and ability may substitute for stipulated academic requirements.

Language, Certificates & Licenses

English oral, reading, writing required.

Responsible for providing technical advice and management support to the corporation on greenhouse gas mitigation, energy conservation, renewable energy, transportation and urban planning, water, wastewater, solid waste, surface water, climate change, and air quality management issues. The incumbent designs, implements and manages projects/initiatives to enable achievement of branch, departmental, corporate and community objectives, retains and manages consultants to assist with project delivery, provides communication support to the unit, contributes to the achievement of departmental and City environmental objectives.

Education & Experience

Four (4)-year degree in a relevant discipline such as, but not limited to, Environmental Science (Biology, Chemistry, Earth Sciences, and Physical Geography), Mechanical or Environmental Engineering, or related program of study.

Five (5) years of related experience and expertise in designing and implementing projects/policies/initiatives related to greenhouse gas mitigation. Experience should include conducting research/analysis, interacting with the general public and environmental regulators, and managing external consultants.

Language, Certificates & Licenses

Knowledge

  • Areas of environmental responsibility and procedures required to initiate change with municipal government
  • The processes required to initiate change while dealing with inter-governmental stakeholders
  • Broad-based knowledge and the ability to analyze technical information relating to greenhouse gas generation, energy conservation, renewable energy, combustion and electric engines, wastewater collection and treatment and bio-solids management; water production distribution and conservation; solid waste, surface and ground water protection and management, energy and air quality management
  • Applicable legislation, policies, regulations, guidelines and operational procedures relevant to the operational area, such as the Environmental Protection Act, Ontario Water Resources Act, the Environmental Assessment Act, Green Energy Act, Nutrient Management Act, Renewable energy generation and transportation.

  • Research methodologies, data collection and analyses
  • Principles of project management
  • Contract management tools and procedures
