Essential Functions & Objectives

The position supports delivery of programmes and events which generate cross-cultural exchange. The Logistics Executive supports the Special projects team is bringing all events and programmes to life.

This full-time position reports directly to the Special Projects Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

Cultural Production

Special Partnerships & Events

The Special Projects Team oversees the delivery of a strong schedule of year-round commercial activations with special partners, geared towards increasing Alserkal’s profitability in general.

  • Support in delivery of a strong A to Z events management offering.
  • Ensure flawless execution of commercial events ensuring client satisfaction and return
  • Develop supplier network
  • Ensure database is updated regularly
  • Conduct planned preventative maintenance for Concrete in a timely manner

Owned Events and Programmes

The Special Projects Team oversees the delivery of the Alserkal Calendar of Programmes, including Quoz Arts Fest, March Art Week, November in Alserkal Avenue and any other key, owned commercial moments in the calendar

  • Support execution of Alserkal Avenue’s annual schedule of owned events, to ensure they are successful in the audiences they attract and the reputation that they reinforce of Alserkal Avenue as the region’s primary arts and culture outpost.
  • Support production and execution of Alserkal homegrown events including but not limited to outdoor activations, themed programmes, workshops, lates etc.
  • Support project execution of March Art Week and November in Alserkal Avenue, including coordination across central teams to deliver initiatives seamlessly.
  • Coordinate with Communications, Events, Technology and Facilities Management teams, to ensure successful implementation of public programmes

Required skills + experience

  • Educated to a Bachelor’s degree level or equivalent and holding relevant professional qualifications in events management, design, architecture or similar
  • A strong understanding and appreciation of Alserkal’s mission and values

We are looking for a talented creative to become Alserkal’s Brand and Design Manager. This is a multi-disciplinary position that sits at the heart of Alserkal, with responsibility for the Alserkal brand and managing its visual identity across all platforms and touchpoints. This role would suit an experienced designer with a strong brand background, someone entrepreneurial and resilient with a flair for translating a brand across both online and offline touchpoints. This position will be responsible for how all of Alserkal’s brands are perceived and experienced in any given situation, and will oversee all collateral and design within the organisation. Design management across a broad range of design disciplines is a key part of this role. The position must ensure the smooth delivery of design in a timely manner, ensuring all requirements and specifications are in place and is able to manage the project across all phases.

Essential Functions & Objectives

The position is an essential role that manages the brand identity for Alserkal, Alserkal Avenue, Alserkal Arts Foundation and Alserkal Advisory, along with any other initiatives and future sub-brands.

Responsible for all brand touch points, including digital, print and physical, the Brand and Design Manager is responsible for ensuring that all material that comes out of the design team is on brand and innovative, reflecting the brand’s values. This role will require strong design thinking and project management to ensure the successful implementation and management of day-to-day design and projects.

This will include being a brand guardian, development of online and print material, collateral for events, and ownership of any other in-house or third-party collateral. It will also include the delivery of partnership-related commitments, including and going beyond defining the scope of partners’ commitment and ensuring that these commitments are fulfilled by both parties.

The position plays an instrumental role in raising and maintaining the high standards and integrity at Alserkal, including overseeing the recent rebrand rollout, spearheading creative campaigns, as well as driving the creative direction to produce the most effective and persuasive work possible.

This position reports directly to the Associate Director of Marketing.

Responsibilities include:

Brand

  • Be the guardian of the Alserkal brand, ensuring both internal and third party use of the brand abides by the brand guidelines
  • Own, develop, evolve and enforce the ethos of each of the brands within Alserkal
  • Ensure all brands within Alserkal remain true to, embrace and express the brand values with clarity and purpose.
  • Oversee the continued rebrand rollout for Alserkal and its initiatives, ensuring that it is translated across all touchpoints
  • Regularly review the brand guidelines, updating these as required
  • Brand onboarding for partners – creating brand guidelines deck, flow, ongoing sharing, checks and follow ups
  • The delivery of the design / brand identity for Alserkal and its initiatives across all platforms, from the physical experience of a space, to any collateral that is developed, to online and digital domains, including alserkal.online
  • Work closely with the team and/or agency to ensure that the digital / visual brand presence of Alserkal and its initiatives across online and social media is on-brand and maintains the high standards that Alserkal has become synonymous with
  • Use and manage independent creative judgement to take the Alserkal brands forward
  • Oversee creation of new brand identities within the Alserkal group as required
  • Take charge of any trademarking or IP-related issues, ensuring that any content developed by Alserkal Avenue and any of its associated brands are protected.

Campaigns & Design

  • Conceptualise creative campaigns for Alserkal and its initiatives, from concept to execution, considering all touchpoints and working alongside the Marketing Manager to bring the campaign to life and deliver against objectives
  • Manage design projects from ideation to design, print and production, ensuring that all material produced maintains the high standards of Alserkal
  • Create strong, on-brand design solutions across online and offline touchpoints, including for alserkal.online, social media, advertising, and print
  • Develop concepts, graphics and layouts for digital and print material for Alserkal Avenue, Alserkal Arts Foundation, Alserkal Advisory and any other initiatives
  • Develop partnership packs for campaigns as required, seeking to amplify the impact of the campaign
  • Manage internal or freelance designers, providing briefs, constructive feedback and guidance in their work
  • Continuously consider Alserkal Avenue and its community members in design projects, seeking to improve the experience of the neighbourhood
  • Work with the appointed consultants/agencies or community members to ensure all communications are on brand
  • Consider sustainability across all design projects, seeking greener solutions in line with Alserkal’s mandate where possible
  • Responsible for writing photography and videography briefs, and ensuring work continually pushes boundaries and maintains Alserkal’s high standards, working closely with Communications Executive
  • Monitor design quality of finished and conceptual materials produced.

Project management

  • Manage design projects from ideation to design, print and production; ensuring delivery to agreed scope and deadlines
  • Liaise with and assist the Associate Director of Marketing and the larger Alserkal team to meet anticipated timelines for all projects.
  • Project management of all design projects, managing up and keeping stakeholders briefed and on target to meet deadlines.
  • Liaise with third-party printing services to ensure deadlines and budgets are met and material is printed to the highest quality, in line with brand guidelines.

Public realm

  • Regular walkthroughs of the public realm (Alserkal Avenue and beyond), to audit the brand experience, and action any changes as required
  • Responsible for overseeing the physical realm for events, including creating brief, appointing agency/freelancer and overseeing the execution of the work
  • Lead and manage way-finding and signage throughout Alserkal Avenue, whether on an ongoing basis or for specific events
  • Work with appointed consultants/working groups/community members to ensure that the physical experience of all spaces are on-brand and reflect the integrity and values of Alserkal Avenue/or the sub-brands

Knowledge & Education

  • A Bachelor’s degree in design, branding, illustration or related area
  • 10+ years’ experience in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
  • Excellent grasp of Adobe Creative Suite; proficiency with Mac OS
  • An interest in sustainability
  • A demonstrable understanding of, and commitment to arts and culture

The Programmes Project Manager is responsible for ensuring that all elements relating for their programming projects are accounted for and delivered.

This one-year, full-time position reports directly to the Special Projects Director.

Key Responsibilities:

Cultural production
Alserkal Advisory specialises in building multi-disciplinary programmes addressing themes pertinent to contemporary dialogue. We believe in artistic interventions conceptualised and designed with critical engagement and content in mind, becoming an empowering place for both local and extended audiences. The Programmes Project Manager is responsible for the full cycle of cultural production from ideation to delivery.

  • Ideate and execute ambitious, experimental, and innovative interdisciplinary projects that bring together visual arts, music, performance, design, dance, theatre, commissions, public events, and special projects.
  • Manage planning and logistics for any cultural production projects, ensuring deadlines and budgets are in place, and that all elements of the project are running on schedule and delivered in a timely manner
  • Forecast and manage project budgets, payments and prepare and present weekly / monthly budget reports as required
  • Liaise with and coordinate all contracts and logistics with partners, external curators or artists
  • Work in partnership with the Special Projects Director to develop, plan and implement project plans
  • Assist with logistics of Advisory projects, including travel and hospitality
  • Plan, brief and liaise with Marketing, Operations, and Finance teams to ensure the smooth delivery of all programmes
  • Prepare progress reports for each project and debrief / post-event reports for all programmes and projects as agreed with the Special Projects Director and with the client

Colloquia

Alserkal Advisory’s programme focus includes symposia that take an epistemic approach to multidisciplinary subjects across arts, culture, urbanism and contemporary dialogue.

  • Research, ideate and execute short and long-form colloquia alongside internal and external stakeholders
  • Develop concept notes for talks and programmes
  • Manage speakers, contracts and any travel requirements
  • Research long-lists of speakers and participants for each in liaison with internal team and external partners
  • Develop participation outreach strategies
  • Write briefs for programmes that support participants
  • Manage ideation and delivery of collateral for programmes, including but not limited to digital and printed programmes and presentations
  • Manage the running orders for programmes alongside moderator and speaker briefs
  • Manage and brief all logistics requirements for programmes/events
  • Plan and deliver archiving/legacy of all talks programmes

Research and Development

  • Research, create and contribute content for Alerkal Advisory projects, including but not limited to cultural production, exhibition-making, commissions, conferences, design collaborations, multi-disciplinary initiatives and more
  • Work with Alserkal’s local, regional and international network to identify and generate opportunities for collaboration
  • Contribute to the development and execution of strategy through strong cultural production content to fulfil business development targets with a focus on positioning Alserkal as the consultant of choice for cultural business development

Required skills + experience

  • 5+ years’ experience in a fast-paced, high-volume environment in a related field
  • Educated to a Bachelor’s degree level or equivalent and holding relevant professional qualifications.
  • A proven track record in project management and the delivery of projects with budgets exceeding AED 500,000
  • A demonstrable understanding of, and commitment to arts and culture within MENA and Internationally
  • Excellent organisational and administrative skills
  • Excellent budget-keeping and reporting skills
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • Work experience in the GCC or wider region desirable
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team
